Interview with the Author

Q:      What prompted you to write God Writes Back?
A:      Well, like it says. I didn't write it. I was told to write it by You Know Who. He just told me what to write and I wrote it. Insisted He didn't need an editor.

Q:     How did the sessions go? What was it like working with Him?
A:     He's actually a lot nicer and less dramatic than what you might think. Doesn't like being corrected, for sure. But other than that, He cracks jokes and loves spinning a good yarn.

Q:      What were the work sessions like?
A:      Usually, I'd be in the middle of my day and all of a sudden, I'd hear His voice telling me He had a few minutes and wanted to get some things down on paper. People forget He's an entity, with no discernible limbs, so while He can transmit ideas, He can't even hold a pencil.

Q:      What was the toughest part writing this book?
A:      Probably wondering why He chose me to work with. I've written a number of books and I suspect He liked my easy style. We also have a similar sense of humor, so we'd riff off each other a lot, which made the job a whole lot easier..

Q:      Why did He approach you with this project?
A:      Well, He REALLY hated the whole Children's Letters to God book, which sold billions of copies. It totally pissed him off, because He felt it infantilized Him. I tend to agree with that perspective. If there had been an Adults'Letters to God, I -- and He -- might have felt differently. But there isn't. So neither of us do. I think our similar attitudes went a long way to cementing a good working relationship..

Q:      Where do the sales revenues for the book go?
A;      Directly into my pocket.

Q:      What can people learn from this book?
A:      I'd like to think people can finally understand that He's one of us, just all-knowing and all-powerful. Seriously, you could sit down and have a beer with Him and feel right at home. Of course, He could drink you under the table, because He's God. But other than that, He's as you might not have imagined. The King of Cool..

Q:     Who should read this book?
A:     Anyone who has doubts about life, God and purpose would probably do well to read it. We tried to keep it light and enjoyable, as opposed to going down the old Hellfire and Brimstone road. People are stressted out enough. He's pretty mellow in that regard. I mean, why freak people out any more than they have to be when they're meeting the power that created it all? I guess the thing is that He knows how intimidating He can be and does His best to keep it real.

Q:      Did He perform any miracles while you were working together?
A:      I can't pinpoint anything, although I know we worked a lot of late nights and I never once had to take any amphetamines. I bet He had something to do with that because I'm normally out like a light by 10:30 PM, latest.

Q:      Are there any photos in the book?
A:      No. Gazing upon His countenance is still fairly lethal. I wasn't even going to go there.

Q:      What else would you like to tell your readers?
A:      Buy the book. It'll do wonders for you. Or buy it for someone who could use a good shot in the arm. It's inexpensive and makes a great gift.
